What are frontiers? Frontiers are boundaries between two or more areas. Many people believe that frontiers can only be associated with land, but that belief is extremely limited. As two great speakers have demonstrated, frontiers are much more than the boundaries within the land. There frontiers that intertwine between each component of technology and go beyond the limits of our galaxy to include all outer space. These frontiers have helped shape these speakers’ speeches and demonstrate that there can be exuberance- the fullness of unrestrained enthusiasm and buoyancy - the capability to prosper within each frontier. This can be seen in the advice given by Steve Jobs: “you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.” This quote demonstrates that everything happens for a reason and giving up when life seems to get hard is never the answer. He goes on to say, “Remember that death will soon arrive, let it help make the big choices in life because almost everything-all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure-will fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is important” (Jobs). Don’t give up on life without fighting for what truly matters. Remember everyone is headed in the same direction: death, whether they want to or not. Moreover, Jobs urges everyone to pursue their dreams because, as he stated, “time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life…Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. Kennedy: “I do say that space can be explored and mastered without feeding the fires of war; without repeating the mistakes that man has made in extending his writ around this globe of ours” (189). This quote illustrates the rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union in the raise to send a spacecraft to the moon. It also suggests that this country can benefit from the mistakes made by our ancestors as the race for space continues, and hopefully we can learn not to repeat them. In another example of buoyancy, Kennedy declares, “If this capsule history of our progress teaches us anything, it is that man, in his quest for knowledge and progress, is determined and cannot be deterred” (188). In other words, everything can be accomplished as long as dreams are pursued and the mind keeps wanting more. Let the mind learn in the process of not giving up; let it be the most powerful tool for the well-being of
