The American Psychiatric Association’s most recent surveys suggest that ADHD occurs in about 5 percent of children and about 2.5 percent of adults. Most experts would agree that is about normal, however in the United States, there are 15 percent of children who are getting diagnosed with ADHD. That is three times the average national estimate censuses of children getting diagnosed with ADHD. Through his book, ADHD Nation, Schwarz argues the seriousness of the disorder, stating in the first two lines of the book, “Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is real. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.” ADHD is a condition that has been described throughout history; with plenty controversial debates against the medications used in the diagnosis of ADHD disorder, however it is still prominently distributed to millions of people, children, and adults.
