Abraham Lincoln’s quote “I will prepare and some day my chance will come” has always been a source of inspiration for me and will continue to be so. I believe that if I aim for something and work towards it I will achieve it. I aim to be a member of Carnegie Mellon University’s community in the future, specifically to study Business Administration as this major has always interested me. Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar offers majors that are like umbrellas covering many different career choices and not limiting a student to one career. I think this is an especially necessary characteristic for a “math heavy” major such as Business Administration. In my opinion, it is important to study something that I enjoy. Sometimes, hobbies and interests have an effect on the major a person chooses. I love to bake, and have been told many times that I should start a business. This motivated me to look into Business Administration and the careers I could pursue with this degree. As mentioned earlier, I would like to not only be an entrepreneur but also a financial analyst. This major will prepare me to start a business and manage it on my own. As a financial analyst, I would like to work in the oil industries here in Qatar. Qatar is dependent on its oil exports, and I would really like to help analyze the external oil trade that it does and changes in oil prices around the world, as well as manage and assess financial risks in the oil industry.
