Detroit, the car capital of America, engineering students have unlimited connections to internships and jobs after graduation.

Because Michigan is a world-class research university, the world's best professors are attracted to the school. This is especially true for the College of Engineering. For example, Andre Boehman, a professor of mechanical engineering, does research in the field of automotive engineering while teaching. He has a PhD from Stanford University. I would love to take a class taught by such a knowledgeable and experienced professor. To me, having professors that continuously do research in their fields is important because it shows that they care about what they are teaching. Michigan not only has incredible professors; the classes offered in the engineering curriculum are varied and fascinating. The class Internal Combustion Engines is intriguing because it provides real-world examples and applications for what is learned in engineering classes in a hands-on format. This class peaks my interest because it combines my two passions: cars and science. I've always wanted to learn about the mechanics of cars, but my high school doesn't have any classes for it. At Michigan, I will be able to expand my horizons and take classes that I would only dream about at other schools. …show more content…
