I am writing this Statement of Purpose to obtain admission into the Masters of Education in Learning Design and Technology program at Purdue University. Achieving the degree will assist me in accomplishing my goals in the Global Training field. Over the course of my career I have seen morale decline, employees leave, and even fatalities because we did not invest in human capital. Employees were not trained or given the tools to succeed. It is my goal to prevent that in the future not only in North America but Globally.
I currently hold my Bachelors of Science in Business Education with a concentration in Training and Development from Fort Hays State University and an Associates in Business Administration from El Paso Community College. I have a respectable GPA of 3.2 and while pursuing my degree I have been working full time in the Oil and Gas Industry as a Professional Training Specialist. I do realize the time and dedication it takes to complete a degree of this magnitude and I am prepared to do so. My husband is a wonderful support system who assists with family responsibilities and doing so enabled me to devote the time needed for my previous degree. Therefore, dedicating time and effort will not be an issue. I fully expect to dedicate 15 – 20 hours a week, or more, in this program after my daily work schedule and on weekends. I do travel extensively through North America and have ample amounts of hotel time after work. While back at home, I have the support I need to dedicate the time. My previous degree was an online degree as well with deadlines and due dates and would frequently submit assignments ahead of time to meet those requirements.
