If a person is convicted of a murder, why wouldn’t he be trying to defend their case? Adnan Syed is guilty of Hae Min Lee’s murder. On January 13, 1999, Hae Min Lee, a popular high school senior, disappeared and was found dead. Six weeks later, Adnan Syed, Hae’s ex-boyfriend, was found guilty of her murder. He claims to be innocent but there is evidence to prove that he was guilty. First, Adnan had asked Hae for a ride, but she declines. With anger of the breakup and her decline, he kills Hae. Jay Wild, one person who was involved in burying Hae’s body had told Jennifer Pusateri about it. She told detectives and at trial that that Adnan killed Hae. According to Becky, one of Hae’s friends, “I do remember that there was talk about it. I remember it felt like he asked her to give him a-- give him a ride somewhere.” When Koenig questioned some of Adnan and Hae’s friends, they claimed that Adnan asked for a ride from Hae. This is important because Sarah reads the police note to Becky and she claims that it is correct. Hae had turned down Adnan’s request and he might have snapped and became angry. As Adnan states, “I would-- wouldn’t have asked for a ride after school. I’m-- I’m sure that I didn’t ask her ...-anyone who knows her knows she always goes to pick up her little cousin,” This is hard to prove because there are many witnesses that say he did ask for a ride. Hae Min Lee was killed in the the time between 2:15 and 2:36 p.m. As they follow the calls, there isn’t enough time to commit the time. In Sarah’s view, “It does seem far fetched because there’s no room for any errors… They all have to happen as quickly as they possibly can for the 2:36 call to work. But, it is possible. Or at least not impossible,” Koenig and Chivvis attempt the to follow the killer’s agenda but finding it hard to commit a crime in only twenty two minutes and two seconds. Sarah talks to Adnan on the phone about their attempt and he was shocked that it was possible. According to … “So the towers, the times, and Jay’s story are not matching---anywhere in that basically six hour period.” When Jay’s story is compared to the calls and the cell towers, they don’t add up to when Hae was murdered.
