Adnan is probably not guilty because there were many discrepancies in his case ignored by the jury. [This claim is only about Adnan and I will not suggest whether anyone else, including Jay Wilds, who testified against Adnan, is guilty.] Adnan was convicted for the death of his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee, on January 13th, 1999 in Baltimore, Maryland. Some evidence that show Adnan’s probable innocence are where the cell towers pings, the audio from the prosecutor, and Rule 403 in the Federal Rules of Evidence/Relevancy. The prosecutor used Jay’s testimony, the Nisha call, and other affirmations in the case against Adnan. Jay’s account of what happened the day of Hae’s murder does not corroborate with the call log. The only thing that can be corroborated as actual evidence against Adnan was that Jay knew where Hae’s car was. When Jay came forward in the involvement of Hae’s murder, he disclosed the location of where Adnan and Jay supposedly dropped off Hae’s car. This occurred after burying her body during Jay’s interview with the police, as mentioned on Serial. Jay’s knowledge of the location of Hae’s car was verifiable, meaning Jay was correct. Speculations should not count as hard evidence in a trial. If there is no definitive answer to a swaying piece of evidence, then it is no longer admissible in court for being time-consuming. According to Rule 403 in the Federal Rules of Evidence/Relevancy, “The court may exclude relevant evidence if its probative value is substantially outweighed by a danger of one of the following: unfair prejudice, confusing the issues, misleading the jury, undue delay, wasting time, or needlessly presenting cumulative evidence.” One might refute by arguing Adnan is guilty and the state was right in convicting him for these reasons. Typically, there is physical evidence when it comes to convicting a person in a murder investigation. Yet, Jay’s knowledge of Hae’s car is the only empirical evidence, which does not prove Adnan murdered Hae Min Lee. In conclusion, use of speculations should not have been enough to convict Adnan of
