There are no two snowflakes alike in this world, and such is true pertaining to human beings. Each individual derives from a unique background, in result forming them into the person they are with their own aspirations and goals. For some people, their vocation is politics. For Tommy Douglas and Ronald Reagan, their calling was such. While these politicians each held their own beliefs and values, they held one common goal as respected political figures; to improve their homelands to the best of their abilities.
“European nations began world war 1 with a glamorous vision of war, only to be psychologically shattered by the realities of the trenches, the experience changed the way people referred to the glamour of battle , they treated it no longer as a positive quality but a dangerous illusion.” (Virginia Postrel) Many soldiers did not expect WW1 to be as gruesome as it was. “The War To End All Wars” changed the way people looked at war not just soldiers but the families and friends at home.
It’s hard to believe what atrocities have been committed throughout the course of history; however, it’s important to learn about them. World War II was an especially dark time in history when many types of people were killed by Nazi Germany. “Night” by Elie Wiesel is an autobiography in which Elie recounts his terrible experiences in the Auschwitz and Buchenwald concentration camps. Elie tells what horrors he had to endure as a Jew and how the Nazis made him lose his sense of being, as well as making him almost lose his faith. Prisoners in the camp were constantly being killed and burned in the crematorium and everyone who was not able to work either died by themselves or died at the hands of the SS guards.

The world staggered in the aftermath of World War I. After the Treaty of Versailles in 1919, countries were left angry and frustrated; and America, though not as injured as those countries friendly with her, sat just as shell-shocked as others. For nations all over the world, the reality of the Great War affected economies and family units, debt was high and many families had lost loved ones. In America, battle deaths in World War I totaled over 55,000, with another 63,000 dying during military service, leaving the family structure challenged and changed. For children surviving this period, World War II would take on a different connotation as they, now as adults, faced their own responsibilities in a precarious and wounded world.
World War Two was a war very different from World War One; new technology developed during World War Two made the previous world war look ancient and primitive. With the start of World War Two, man-on-man combat was a thing of the past, as advanced technology such as airplanes became necessarily dominant. Many actions played out during the Holocaust and World War II were not humane, and still remind us like a scream behind closed doors: hidden but still heard. While hearing the horrid stories and seeing the ghoulish photos of times not to be forgotten, we see the tragedy that is the mistreatment of human lives. Our identities are lost little by little, but those victims had theirs ripped from their bodies. After losing everything and then becoming a nearly empty vessel, it is amazing that we attempt to comprehend the cruelty of the Holocaust. The loss of identity and self might have started with Adolf Hitler’s reign, for the Holocaust legacies, but we are all losing bits of ourselves constantly.
World war two was one of the most horrifying times. For Pavel Feiman and Krystyna Chiger that's true. They were both in the Holocaust. They both tried to escape death. Pavel couldn't escape.
When World War Two occurred, yes it did end the Nazi party and the Holocaust, but millions of innocent people were died already. That number would have been lower if country took part or interest into helping the Jewish community, but no one did, in which is the reason why the Holocaust is forever being told. If Germany had the real power they said they did, they would have taken World War One with full responsibility and not targets a certain group that had the guts to fight for its country, when it was a little percentage of German who actually fought in the war. However, one statement in which I agree with was when Bauman stated “all of the Nazis Decisions were not so much imbued with intense emotion, but they were the result of no emotion.”
Many people consider World War II a successful and beneficial war to the Unites States of America. They say that the jobs that it created pulled the country out of the depression, and that people working towards the war effort brought the nation closer together. I do not agree with this idea of World War II being a “Good war”. I believe that instead it resulted in the mistreatment and abuse of the country 's own citizens, and poor communication resulting in unnecessary panic among american citizens. The effects of World War II on the American homefront involved mistreatment of Japanese-American citizens, as well as splitting up families across the nation and creating a rise in panic and chaos in American cities.
Eventually Wiesel’s words impacted some people at the time and help was sent to help end the war, but by then, thousands had already died even though people had begun to choose to not remain

As the war continued the humanity of their spirits degraded at the gruesome horrors they had come to see. Fascism, was portrayed as the opposite of what the war meant. Fascists preached of humanity, rejecting society’s ideas and thinking for one’s self, and a chance at a government that cared more about the citizens then it did the economy or money. During the war, men were commanded to perform awful acts or witnesses them. The sons of the mothers who waited patiently for them were not the same when they returned from the war.
