A perpetrator is a person or a group that carries out illegal and sometimes deadly acts. During the Holocaust, perpetrators had control over every heinous act played out on the prisoners. Hitler’s plan was to gather all Jewish people and exterminate them in the concentration camps. Hitler couldn’t get rid of all degenerates to his “perfect race” alone, so he had hired other perpetrators, including Himmler, to help carry out his motive. My historical perspective changed drastically with this fact because Jewish people were so isolated compared to people from different religions to the point where they were told where to live and the area they lived in was in a highly poor condition. Jewish people were most likely treated so harshly because they were blamed for all the issues that arose in Germany which is completely racist and illogical. This fact angered me so much because people during the 1940s were so blinded by their rage towards Jewish people that they did inhuman things to them as a form of revenge. I would be hurt, irritated, and heartbroken if I were a Jew who was forced to live in Ghettos. I might’ve even reached the point where I would be questioning my existence just like Eliezer did because I’d be utterly hopeless.

The Holocaust To the Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, Jews were an alien threat to the racial purity to Germany and its communities. Jews were the main group targeted because they were believed to have caused all economic problems but, they were not the only ones. The Holocaust was a horrific tragedy which started in January of 1933 and ended in May of 1945, the Holocaust was the mass murder of millions of people. The word was derived from the Greek word that meant Sacrifice to the Gods (Steele 7), also called the Shoan which is the Hebrew word for catastrophe (Steele 7). So many countries took place in this 12-year genocide, including, “Germany, Italy, Japan, Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria, which were also known as the Axis Powers” (Steele 34). But, although there were all those countries they were all part of one larger group called the Nazis, were the ones who were killing all the different denominations of people. (Bachrach 58).

During the Holocaust people would help people escape, making them a rescuer. Oskar Schindler's perspective of the Holocaust was that of many people, wrong
