Leaders are the foundation on which a thriving society is built. They determine whether or not their following is prosperous, one decision they make can change the lives of their patrons forever. Throughout history, there have been numerous instances in which the fate of an entire country, kingdom, or dynasty was decided by a leader. Evidently then, leaders retain a large sphere of influence. Leaders have a considerable impact on their followers as they help to guide one's self through precarious times, drastically effect law and policy-making, and have the ability to change and refine one’s worldview. Adolf Hitler infamously indoctrinated a hateful ideology into the country of Germany thereby starting a World War, the implications of which had a profound impact on the entire world. Before Hitler’s intervention into the affairs of German citizens they harbored no resentment towards the Jewish peoples, after Hitler’s persuasion however, there was a substantial prejudice towards Judaism. Furthermore, Martin Luther King Jr used his powers of persuasion to convince the people to oppose segregation. His “I have a dream speech” was such a powerful catalyst that it’s widely credited with being the most critical action in the abolishment of segregation. Finally, Trump is exceptionally persuasive as is evidenced by his overcoming unfavorable odds and winning the presidential election. He is adept at appealing to the emotions of his constituents, consistently eliciting cathartic and sometimes violent behavior from his audience. Plainly, persuasiveness and the ability to manipulate one’s emotion to the personal whim of a leader is an inherent trait possessed by proficient
