It’s true, from Kenny G to John Coltrane to Charlie Parker, the saxophone has been considered to be one of the greatest instrument of all time. The saxophone hasn’t been invented as long ago as the piano or the violin. The saxophone is an interesting instrument, considering it’s made out of brass but is classified as a woodwind instrument. Sax’s father’s passion for creating instruments inspired him to improve the tone of bass clarinet. He attached a clarinet mouthpiece to a brass invention. When Sax first introduced the saxophone, most people were not impressed. Adolphe Sax first showed his creation, a C bass saxophone, to Hector Berlioz in 1841. He was the first musician and composer to give praise and make the first saxophone composition. Years later, Adolphe Sax patented 14 variations of the saxophone; E flat sopranino, alto, baritone, contrabass, F sopranino, alto, contrabass, B flat soprano, tenor, bass, and C soprano, tenor, and bass. Goumas patented fingering for the saxophone similar to the clarinet in 1875. Sax extended the patent on the saxophone and lengthens the bell to include more notes, adding C trill key, half-hole for both first fingers of each hand, single octave key, and rollers for low E flat and C was added, in 1887. The first saxophone in the United States was created in 1885 by Gus Buescher. In 1914, the saxophone entered the world of jazz. Adolphe Sax passed in 1894, but after that, more changes happened, books were published, company musicians continued to include
