How an adult can be responsive when listening to children:
To listen to children properly, adults need to give them their full attention when they are speaking. • Give your full attention to the child who is speaking. This will show them that you are listening and interested in what they have to say. This will encourage the child to talk. • Do not look around the room when the child is talking to you. Make sure you look at them . Again, this will show them that you are interested and value them. • Make sure your mind is focused on the child and what they are saying. It is easy to let your mind wander, and you may miss what the child is trying to say. This may result in the adult missing important information that the child is giving. • Let the child finish speaking before you begin to talk. When you interrupt, the child may think that you are not listening, even if you are.
