Disadvantaged
I am a proud first-generation college student who grew up below the poverty line in a rural, medically underserved community. My family has received financial assistance from various federal programs and I have received full Pell Grant throughout my college career. I chose to go to a university with a student population that was twice the size of the county I grew up in; my first college lecture was twice the size of my graduating class. I attended a Title-1 high school that only offered 3 AP classes, and did not offer dual enrollment for college credit. I have been a full-time student for almost nine semesters straight in order to graduate on time.

Nashville
This week-long service trip focused on community health and wellbeing, specifically healthcare disparities in Nashville, Tennessee. We volunteered with the Boys and Girls Club, Dolphins Special Needs Swim Team, Hope Women's Clinic, Planned Parenthood, Make a Wish Foundation, four different food banks, Project CURE, and Park Center for Mental Health.

This entire trip changed my outlook on life, but there are two experiences that stood out the most.

I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve on the Community Outreach Committee to act as a liaison between Miracle and all of our donors and partners across Athens. I also served as the High School Outreach Committee Leader where my committee and I were responsible for recruiting high schools to join our cause. We helped them coordinate their own mini-dance marathons to raise money. I also served as a Morale Leader and Color Group Captain at these marathons to ensure that everyone was having fun while staying motivated to raise money for the kids of
