Are people planning to get away for the weekend and are looking for hotels that are booked all the time? Many people will not consider staying at a Bed And Breakfast, but here are some tips of what it really is. So what exactly is a Bed and Breakfast? A Bed And Breakfast is typically one’s own property that offers overnight lodging and breakfast, and can have up to ten bedrooms. A B&B is not just a lodging area that serves breakfast, there are several different types of properties. Some are intimate family homes with less guest rooms, and there are also country inns with a dozen or more rooms. Next, you have a ‘Bed And Breakfast” which is a step up from a “homestay”. These, however consist of four or up to eight guest rooms and a live in owner. These usually have signs out front and have government requirements such as zoning and health. Third, there are Bed And Breakfasts Hotels, which isn’t really like a B&B, but it does offer breakfast as part of the room rate. Lastly, there are unhosted apartments and Cottages. For instance, even though it is the owners home, they may be surprised that some departments don’t allow the use of a range or oven to prepare breakfast. Many areas also don’t allow the preparation of dinner for B&B lodging guests without additional permits, inspections, and a commercial kitchen. So to avoid and zoning and permit problems, owners have to research all the regulations and restrictions or they could also work with an architect to help design and build their plans, then they will have to meet up with various departments to review the conceptual drawings before finalizing the architects
