Texas has been dominated mostly by Democrats, however during time this has changed. Today in modern society there is more Republicans than Democrats in our government systems. I believe this is a big issue for our Texas legislature because it is not balanced out and there is no competiveness. Although the legislation is not be balanced out the Texas legislature is still doing pretty good the way it is for now. However, I do not believe that the part time legislature is better than the full time legislature that the United States congress has. There are many reasons that the Texas legislature is defective.
One disadvantage of the Texas Legislature is that there aren’t many people in the meetings. There are only 31 members in the Senate and 150 in the House of Representatives. Having this is an issue because you do not get a variety of perspectives on the view and the capacity of coming up with the best solutions to the ideas. However, it can also be good due to the fact that you have to influence less people to join your perspective and less people you have to go against. This is especially good for lobbyist. Lobbyist can influence the Texas Legislature more easily in this way. Also because there is less people to go against and lobbyist that influence the legislators, the government becomes more corrupt. …show more content…

They only meet for 140 days and every two years. With the little time they are given they pass or kill bills with little consideration. Also not that many bills are granted a hearing because they consume valuable time. Since there is inadequate staff support and weak legislative research institutions the legislators get their information from legislative leadership, administrators, and even lobbyist. Also sine the Texas legislation has few time to discuss bills, they are not able to know all the risk factors to the bill because they are in a hurry to do the long
