The Sixth Amendment talks about how everyone has the right to a speedy trial and the right to a public trial. This means that if the person asks for a speedy trial they have to honor it. This prevents them to hold the prisoner for an unreasonably long amount of time without a trial. Another thing is you are entitled to face the witnesses accusing you of your wrongdoing. You can’t have a trial without the witness so you have to have to face the witness at the trial. They added speedy process to the constitution because there was a time when you could be locked up for a long amount of time without a trial and sometimes that person never got a trial so they added a speedy trial so that everyone has the right to a trial and to face the witness
