Odysseus and Aeneas are looked at as two of the greatest great heroes in Greek Mythology. They are both on a journey with a purpose of returning to their home or establishing a home and share similar ancient Greek virtues of strength. But Odysseus represents the Greek characteristics of being deceptive, strategic, and self-centered while Aeneas represents the Roman characteristics of accepting his destined path despite is causing him unhappiness and putting the interest of others above his own. Odysseus represents the Greek hero because he is self-centered, strategic, deceptive, and tricky which is highly looked upon in the ancient Greek culture. Another character trait that the ancient Greeks looked highly upon was the fact that he was suspicious, cautious, guarded and untrusting. This was such an important character trait because it was very common to trust everyone and if you are trusting everyone, then the person would be more likely to be betrayed. Because Odysseus was cautious and untrusting towards others, it allowed him to avoid betrayal which ensures that he will live a longer life. Odysseus was also very athletic and natural with his talents and abilities allowing him to be properly equipped for war and anything else that a hero might have to face.
