To start with, I reside in Tallahassee, Florida. I live in student housing and my community comprises student rented homes and student apartment. My community is relatively safer than homeowner communities. Moreover, the community I live in has fewer break-ins and more security on the premises than regular homeowner communities. Next, the area I reside has many stores and restaurants to choose from. There are three major grocery stores, two drug stores, several clothing boutiques, and affordable stores within walking distance from my community. Furthermore, my community greatest struggle is towing companies. Many of the student apartments have contracts with towing services. The towing services tow students’ vehicles for minor incidents such as parking on the white line. Towing can become a major burden for many of the people who live in my community.

For instance, African American have a distrust in medical institutions. Their distrust in medical institutions prevents many African Americans from getting regular checkups. Even more, African Americans are less likely to be covered by medical insurance so it is difficult for them to afford proper medical treatment. Therefore, having a community assessment of an African American community to list their medical needs can provide substantial evidence to prove the community lacks medical facilities. For the purpose of community medical improvement, gathering a group of people within the community to form a committee can empower the community to help develop a plan to educate their own community members. Helping the committee members to create goals for their community and execute a plan will give them the courage to talk to their local officials. In addition, it will educate the community on steps to organize to ask their officials for accessible medical centers, health education courses, and free to low cost medical
