Which African-American’s strategy would have a more effective impact on African-American equality in Georgia? Booker T. Washington was born in West Virginia in 1865 as he went through traumatic events. He was born into slavery, his mom was killed and he saw his Aunt and cousin get beat up. He then got taken from his grandma and since he couldn’t read, he had to teach himself how to. He was then the principal of Tuskegee Uni. and was a janitor to pay for school funds. This is the background of Booker T. Washington. Many believe that DuBois’s philosophy is more effective for achieving equality for African-Americans, but he does not understand life in Georgia. Booker T. Washington had a more effective strategy because he had experience with slave owners and it was safer for African-Americans. Washington's plan will have a bigger impact on African-American’s fight for equality because he’s experienced expectations from Southern European American slave owners. Specifically, Booker T. Washington experienced slavery and then Black codes in Virginia. For example, since he was born into slavery, he knows how Southern European Americans feel about African Americans and the power they have. Clearly, Booker T. Explicitly, what he was doing was the safer option for African-Americans rather than W.E.B. DuBois used the court to testify against Jim Crow Law. For example, back then Blacks couldn’t testify against Whites in court. So I don’t think his plan would really be effective as they didn’t have a voice. According to one expert, “No Black, or Mulatto person, or Indian shall be allowed to give evidence in favor of, or against a White man.” (Section 14 of the Criminal Act). Evidently, if a Black man was to try and fight back in court against a White man, they would be vulnerable to exploitation. To conclude, his plan was safer for African-Americans in
