• The ethnic group I have decided to research is African Americans. I chose this ethnic group because I only know what I know about them through what I have learned in school over the years. Also, I find them to be one of the most commonly misunderstood ethnic groups around in today’s world with current events that are making people look differently on them. The purpose of my research to learn about African Americans and gain information on them that I do not already know about them. My thesis is through my questions I will discover very interesting about this ethnic group.

They have been treated poorly through slavery, killings, segregation and much more over the years. Their treatment has improved because there is no slavery any more, even though killings still happen more attention is being brought to that situation, and they are looked like as equal to the other ethnic groups around. This group is part of a minority still today. Some of the ethnic stereotypes that this group faces are being judged as low life, not hard working, uneducated, and unequal to some people who are “racist”. This group has suffered tremendous discrimination over the years that they have been around but it has also improved as time has progressed as well. Today African Americans are proving that they are hard working, educated, equal, and not low life by attending college and getting jobs. They have also learned to ignore the negativity associated with them and have become stronger as a whole. One reason why I think this is because I learned about an ethnic group that many people discriminate. By learning about them, I can share the information and viewpoints to other people to help them get a better understanding about their ethnic group. Also, through the interview, I learned how to properly interview a person and what questions were good/bad questions and can use this in the future. For example, in nursing one must talk to patients and ask the person questions to figure out information and with this assignment I learned how to go about doing that in a way that would offend a different ethnic
