Avery Busta Ms. Windish English ll Nov. 11 2016 Agamemnon You may know Agamemnon as another one of those selfish rulers and kings of a place, with obnoxious behavior and a spoiled life. That inference may not be the case though. Reading this, you’re going to find out how Agamemnon became Agamemnon. Agamemnon was not just a special person in greek mythology for who he was known as, but rather for what he did that truly defined him. The birth of Agamemnon was unknown, but he was made by king Atreus and queen Aerope of Mycenae. He would eventually become the King of Mycenae later in his life. He was granted this honor to rule by Mycenae, as well as one of the greatest greek gods of all time, Zeus (Cartwright). Although Agamemnon and his men suffered brutally throughout the war, they ended up winning it in the end thanks to many different things including a wooden horse, known as the Trojan Horse. During the war things went back and forth between The Greeks and the people of Troy. There was one thing that really made an impact though, when Achilles found out that Agamemnon took his wife, Briseis, from him (Cartwright). This was big because Achilles was the Greeks’ greatest soldier of Agamemnon, and he’s known as one of the greatest warriors of all time. After Achilles found out about this he refused to fight in the war. This would’ve meant trouble for the Greeks considering he was their best soldier, and they might have not won without him. During this time, Agamemnon sent Odysseus to convince Achilles to fight with them again. This idea of Agamemnon's worked, and Achilles later would win his greatest battle in the war against Hector. He may have won that one, but he died later when he was shot in the heel by Paris, followed with multiple shots to the chest with Paris’s bow and arrow
