Who is the killer?
It is important to note that there were three more minor characters who will not be analyzed in detail, but it is important to mention that they still contributed to the plot development of the book. These include the Rogers, Mr. and Mrs. who worked on the Island as housekeeping, and become one of the first victims on the Island. The final minor character being Tony Marston, a young and attractive man who enjoys good life and fast cars. That lead him to killing two children on the road, and becoming the first victim on the Island. Finally, we come to the last and the most important character of them all, Mr. Justice Wargrave. He is the tenth person on the Island presented to the readers as a recently retired judge, whose …show more content…

Through Mr. Wargrave, the writer creates a perfect killing machine, full of self-confidence and sadism to serve as a tool for hurting other people’s perception of themselves. In order words, she created a character who is powerful enough to make the others judge their own perception of the world around them and their perception of their own actions by creating a feeling of guilt, or remorse. Wargrave is not able to feel any sort of sympathy for his victims, which is completely against his principles which led to the formation of the Island as a prison for all those who were guilty of some crime. In other words, Wargrave is trying to punish those guilty of other people’s suffering by becoming the same, even worse killer than them all. In the end, it can be said that the author uses the theme of guilt in order to alter the way that the characters see the world, thus exposing them to get murdered while creating the perfect killer who shoes no remorse in what the characters are feeling and who is able to deceive and betray all of the people who believed and trusted
