He was ten years older than Agatha’s mother, but nonetheless he fell in love with her. He was always busy with his club, playing cards and going to parties. He was the president of the Cricket Club. The Miller family loved theatre, so much that Frederick sometimes organised plays. Agatha’s father was simple, kind and loving. He was also interested in other people and their problems. He made other people laugh. He was loved by his friends and well, almost everyone who knew him. Agatha’s mother was the opposite. She was shy, insecure, and always had people ready to obey and please her. Frederick and Clara had three children together Margaret, Louis, and Agatha. Agatha was born on September 15, 1890 in Torquay, England. At the age of five she taught herself how to read. She once said ‘She was lucky to have a “very happy childhood.”(Hope p.2) She was homeschooled by her parents, she enjoyed reading, writing poetry and playing music. When Agatha’s father died in November 1901 from many heart attacks, Agatha was sent to Miss Guyer’s Girl’s School in 1902. Agatha was a writer, a poet, she even wrote plays, but for a little while she was an unpaid nurse. Agatha Christie was a Christian and she attended the Church of England. Agatha met Archie Christie, who was a an officer in the Royal Flying Corps, at a dance. The two fell in love, but they had to delay the wedding because Archie was sent to fight in France, due to the outbreak of the First World War. While Archie fought in the war Agatha joined the Voluntary Aid Detachment and was a nurse at the Red Cross Hospital in Torquay. In 1914 on Christmas Eve the two got married while Archie was on leave. Two days after they were married Archie had to go back and fight in the war. During this time Agatha wrote her first detective novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, which she wrote in 1916, but was not published until 1920. In January 1918 Agatha and Archie were reunited, when Archie was given the position in the War Office in London. In August 1919, their daughter Rosalind was born. In the same year that their daughter was born, Archie was asked to tour areas of the British Empire to further the progress of the opening of the British Empire Exhibition, furthering the progress for Britain and its colonies,
