Agatha Christie is one of the most famous authors of all time. She was born September 15, 1890, in Torquay, Devon, in southwest England. She was educated at home by her mom and tutors, who inspired her to be a writer. Agatha had three sisters, they were always very competitive with each other. She moved to Paris with her family at age 6. When she was a teen, she studied to be a musician, but she was to nervous to perform. Her first book, was a result of a challenge by her sister. From then on, she never looked back and wrote books for a living.
Agatha, pursuing her dream as an author, got married to a man named Archie Christie, a World War One pilot. In the beginning stages as an author she had to be a nurse too. When she was working one day, she came up with the idea to make a crime novel. She completed it in one year, but it took five years to be published. In 1926, Archie asked for a divorce because he fell in love with somebody else. She was already upset because of the death of her mother. While mourning, she was found in a hotel by police, she told the police she had lost her memory. After that stint, she never mentioned it again. Miss Marple was an elderly woman who lived in St. Mary Mead, England. Miss Marple solved many mysteries because of her focus and intuition. Miss Marple appeared in twelve different books. Her other famous character, Hercule Poirot was a retired police officer. He is known as a very enduring character. Poirot is a very neat little man, sometimes very unreasonable or not making sense, but managed to always get the job done. Hercule is featured in more than 30 books.
