According to Merriam-Webster childhood is the period during which a person is a child; the early period in the development of something. Think of a moment when you were free without a single care in the world yet at the same time at your most vulnerable. Odysseus, king of Ithaca, is an example of a hero who does not deserve the title. Nonetheless, Odysseus shares many qualities of being a hero: he led his crew to victory in the grueling ten-year-long Trojan war due to his strategic thinking, and bravely made it home alive from the ten-year-long journey back. Odysseus is brave, cunning, and has great leadership skills: all of these traits are characteristics you would expect in a hero.

Aging is another stage in the human life. It is synonymous to other life stages like childhood, adolescence and adulthood. I have sat in on several of these transition to adulthood meetings in my current role as an advocate for the DD Community in Cheyenne. I have to admit after reading the article “Transition to Adulthood” I was not aware of the complexity behind the transition. I had seen all of the components in play at the meetings I attend. I know attribute this fact that I did not full understand the or know the complete/correct definition of transition as it pertained to special needs students moving from the school system to their next phase in life. That phase can include but not be limited to be post education, employment, independent or supported living, and life in general in the main stream community.
Emerging adulthood is teens to early 20s explore prior to committing to adult role. Most teens think they are adults by the age of 18 because, that is the voting age and drinking age as well as the legal age of adulthood but, they don’t want to take the full role of being an adult and this include education. I was never fully aware of the topic of ageism nor was I ever concerned about it. Whenever I hear the word I think of it as regarding to the older generation. After reading on the topic of ageism, I realized that not only is the older generation affected by this topic, but also myself is. The changes in policies about ageism will take into count when I will reach that age period. Ageism is viewed differently now then it was viewed back in the day.
For my interview, the aging individual is a person I have known my whole life. Though she is not blood related, she is considered family, and an important person in my life. I chose her because I have seen her go through the aging process in a positive, and inspirational way. She has defied the norm that a woman needs a man in her life, yet she has lived her life without being in a single relationship. Abstract This report discusses the statement: Adulthood is probably the most balanced and free of changes stage of human development. To evaluate change in adulthood I will look at how Erikson and Levinson’s theories explore psychosocial changes in adulthood, how social and emotional development proceeds in adults and the physical changes which occur as we age. It is concluded that adulthood is a period of frequent profound change and is not the most balanced and free of change in human development.
