• Even in society today, we are quick to judge others. After all, all living things are hard-wired to make judgements about everything in their environment for adaptation and survival.However, unlike our ancient ancestors, we don’t deem for the “best food” or “best territory” in the environment, instead we evaluate others based off of appearances, modern trends, likes and dislikes, and etc.This is not a wise thing to do as people can quickly create misunderstandings amongst each other, just as Jem initially assumes the opposite of Boo’s personality. It can also perpetuate stereotypes and false beliefs. Thanks to Miss Stephanie, Maycomb eventually believes that Boo dines on raw squirrels and cats. Nevertheless, just like Jem, we can learn how to look past presumptions and instead seek to learn people’s true identity, whilst radiating positivity. We cannot stop judgement altogether, and some might continue to criticize others in order to make themselves feel better, but eventually we’ll all find our “Aha Moment”. I used to struggle with judging others before I had context, especially in elementary school, but I’m glad to say that that problem rarely happens anymore since I’m more self conscious of my assumptions’ effects on others. …show more content…

Afterall, if a twelve year old can shift his perspective to a more mature and thoughtful point of view, then we can
