Aileen Wuornos Aileen Wuornos is the second female serial killer to be executed in the United States since 1976 and the first female serial killer to fit the description of the FBI, That's because she was the first to fit the FBI's definition of a serial killer, which includes killing more than three people, targeting victims whom she did not know and who did not know each other, and allowing some time to elapse between each killing (Kassab, 2002). She is very Notorious because she had several books and movies written about her and the crimes she committed. During this trial, the “Williams rule” was used as an advantage in Florida law for prosecutors, in which they could introduce any evidence from any other case into the trial in order to prove their case (Shipley, 2001). Aileen confesses to slaying Richard Mallory and found guilty of first degree murder and is sentenced to death by the electrical chair (Kassab, 2002). She would later plead no contest or guilty to five similar murders in Marion, Citrus, Pasco and Dixie counties, for which she would receive five more death sentences. Long (1991), said evidence shows the killings happened on a regular cycle of about once a month. When police searched Wuornos' suitcase and a rented storage shed, Long (1991) also states, they found many of the victims' belongings. Research proves there was more than enough physical evidence linking Ms. Wuornos to every one of the victims, (Long, 1991).
