Helen Vasquez Chan Research paper My science project is to make an Air Pressure Car move by using the pressure of the chemical reaction of baking soda and vinegar. I want my car to travel a fixed distance in a fixed amount of time and for that I need the right type of nozzle that will not let all of the baking soda and vinegar out all at once. The mixture of both baking soda and vinegar actually creates carbon dioxide. This mixture is actually a two-step process. The first step is as they go through a chemical reaction they create carbonic acid something called a double displacement. This is when, both positive and negative ions, switch around. The formula for this compound is NaHCO3. The elements in vinegar (scientific name- acetic Acid) are just like baking soda but it is just missing sodium and its formula is CH3COOH. The carbon dioxide gas escapes as bubbles which is what you see in the eruption of a paper Mache volcano. And it all overflows because, at the surface of the container, it all collects itself. You see, to make all of the carbon dioxide come out of the plastic bottle car and make it move you will need for it to push the car. And push is known as a type of force. Force is known from Newton's Law of Motion which was represented with a simple equation. This equation, basically, means that force is the same(equal) to the acceleration and mass of an object. Here is an example of force, if you tape a hose going the opposite direction to a wooden wagon and then turn the hose on, the water would push itself out of the hose and push the wagon and make it move. So in this example, force is being represented by the water. This type of force is called Applied force. In conclusion, my car will be using carbon dioxide gas as its fuel. Like a gas running car. And like my earlier example it will be using Applied force, it will move by an object pushing it and moving it, for that I need to find the correct type of nozzle/cap that won't let ALL of the "fuel" escape at
