Al-Qaeda is the one of the most important or notorious terrorist organization in the world. Founded in 1988 by Osama bin Laden in the Middle East to fight for an extremist Jihad against Western powers. Through its existence Al-Qaeda has being responsible of thousands of terrorist attacks in different countries of Europe and the Unites States. As any other organization Al-Qaeda requires money to fund its terrorist activities. The organization counts with multiple financial sources that have evolved along with the organization. Some of the most important sources are donors and criminal activity such as drug traffic and kidnapping. Although I did found some interesting information that can lead to think in some ways they could possible store the money. According to CTU “Al Qaeda has been closely associated with a worldwide conglomerate business model. This model has been described as "a corporation consisting of a number of subsidiary components or divisions in a variety of unrelated industries, usually as a result of merger or acquisition" (McLaughlin, 2009)”(2017). Since Osama bin Laden create a financial business model similar to a conglomerate to laundry the money it can be assumed that the organization store the money on banks and financial institutions around the world, probably using fake identities. Another factor is that by stopping financial donors Al-Qaeda has being force to rely in other sources such drug traffic, dangerous illegal activity that can be independently procecuted. Bu relying on other types of illegal activity Al-Qaeda’s financial founds are less and also their expenses to collect those sources are higher and riskier. They have to invest money or sources to get some profit, they have to spend more time on the process, and they have to use their soldiers to mule the drug, or guns and to collect the money. Those activities put them at a higher risk and expose them more than receiving the money from financial donors. Although it is almost impossible to stop financial donors, it is important to keep trying because definable it will impact Al-Qaeda’s operations in different ways such as delaying their attacks, reduce their troops and gun power and cause desperation among their leaders.
