The second step: I had a dirty mind and consciously evoked negative words, images and thoughts about alcohol. I let my imagination get the better of me here, and I've tried to make the most disgusting things I could visualize ... and then they connected to alcohol. I will not say what they were here because they were pretty bad! But what happened is that after a few days of consciously connect words, images and thoughts of alcohol they were soon joined at the hip. Simply put, you constantly remind how you feel now, better, look better, have more money, think more clearly, and will live longer because alcohol is out of your life. Note that even the small positives, like how do you spend more time with your kids, or exercise more, or eat healthier. Life is all about the little things. I mean not only grateful for your "blessings" (5th step below), but focus on how much your life is getting better every day. The fourth step: I acted like I'm sober for years, even though it was only a few days. And I pretended alcohol meant nothing, even though (at first), it meant a lot. It is difficult to explain this, but "act the part" helped me become what I wanted to be, because I started all the little things that a sober person could do. In fact it was easier to be sober when I did like I WAS already sober! FOURTH STEP Summary: Act (and thinking and talking), though you sober for years, even if it was only a day or two. Something mysterious happens to you if you do this, and yet it is also very simple: You're the type of person that you act like today. The reason this works is because if you "act the part" you unconsciously start to the habits and thoughts needed the kind of person you want to be to be adjusted.
