Alex Murdaugh’s End Verdict

Alex Murdaugh was sentenced to prison for two life sentences after being found guilty of killing his wife and son. The state said he was a habitual liar that couldn’t tell the truth about what he was doing the night of the murders. Murdaugh’s story changed multiple times during the investigation and trials. He has been convicted of various forms of financial fraud and owed millions of dollars. With debt like that he had to act quick for a distraction so that he could try to come up with an escape plan.

Literature Review: Every murderer has a reason why they do it whether they know it or not. Sexual serial killers do it because they want to feel like they have control over the situation because maybe they were a victim of assault or rape, and they want to gain back the control they lost. Some murder’s kill loved ones because they are guilty of cheating, or they think they don’t love them anymore. Murders are all categorized based on their motive or the professionals put them in one after they review the crime and crime scene. A professional lair suggests someone who tells lies for a living, perhaps someone who lies well. Alex Murdaugh was a South Carolina lawyer, so it was basically his job to lie. Alex knew that society was not going to be kind to him after the double murder or the suicide attempt because this is how society views murders. As to the murderer’s end, of the three alternatives—execution, suicide, and madness. The first is preferable; for if he commits suicide he refuses to repent, and if he goes mad he cannot repent, but if he does not repent society cannot forgive. Execution, on the other hand, is the act of atonement by which the murderer is forgiven by society. Primary sources: This series talks about the deaths that follow the Murdaugh’s name. The series starts off with the friends of Mallory and Paul talking about the night that Mallory was killed in the boat crash. The series uses flashbacks throughout the whole film to show clips of their past and what they were like. In the first episode it's stated that there are 5 deaths tied to the Murdaugh family over the past 6 years. In this episode it talks about Mallory as a kid and her relationship with her friends and boyfriend, Anthony. This episode gives the audience background information on the friend group and insight from parents on their thoughts of the Murdaugh's. In this episode it shows the boating accident and the body cam footage from the scene and how Alex came to the hospital trying to get everyone to “keep their mouth shut.” It took search parties a week to find Mallory’s body, and it ended up 5 miles down the river from the accident sight. Morgan talks about Paul wrecking his truck and her trying to call 911 but Paul through her phone so that he could call his dad. His family showed up to throw out the beer cans and pick up all the guns that were around. The second episode shows the events that happened at the hospital and how Alex was trying to get all the kids to not say anything about the driver. The Murdaugh's were trying to blame Connor for the accident and not Paul because there was a question of who was driving that night. The cops denied Mallory’s mom
