A lot has happened in our history and as a result of that we are who we are today, even though sometimes history is not in our own hands to chose. The book, Soul by Soul by Walter Johnson tells the readers story of slavery that's took place on nineteenth-century, before the civil war on America by going away from the cotton plantations into the slave market itself which was the heart of the domestic slave trade. The story takes place on New Orleans.
Before Alex got hurt he didn't have many friends besides his teammates, he was like that invisible kid at school.. When he was hurt he wasn't that invisible kid anymore. People started talking to him who usually did not and he also got invited to the most popular girl party. When Alex was hurt he was got to have a interview with this girl named Christine Whitford she was a reporter for the school newspaper. He quickly starts to fall for her.

He lives only by obeying to his own rules and the rules of nature but not following the law. Alex lives at his own interest. At one point, he is caught shooting a deer and is caught in between trouble because no Alex actually exists and also that he did not have a hunting license. When he Is finally let go he refuses to go get a hunting license because he believes that the government has authority to know Alex’s business and know what he hunts and what he eats. This goes back to the way that he wats to be free but also free from the entire world.
This truely is a great escape for Alex and the tough task will eventually lead to his demise. The task indeed proved to be too much for this unprepared boy ready for his freedom from his life and the feeling of being held down. In the poem of “Touchscreen,” by Marshall Davis Jones, he is explaining how our feelings towards technology are crucial and where we do not want to live in a world without internet or media. He describes how he lives in a society where everyone has limited interaction with each other and that he witnesses doing it also. He explains his frustration how we spend so much time establishing profiles so other people can recognize you. In the beginning of the poem, it introduces you to his world where it is all digital and in the end, it shows you that the speaker is angry about technology and how he wishes that they would design it more advanced enough to make them all humans again.
From the beginning of the story it is clear that there is a lack of an authority figure in Alex’s life. His parents seem to be emotionally absent, they do not question their sons lack of school attendants, nor do they question where he is and wants he is doing late at night. Alex had a very relaxed upbringing and was allowed to do whatever, whenever with no consequences. The “Droog" gang members also had a negative impact on Alex’s decision making and problem solving abilities. Growing up with this lack of authority and the inability to differ between right and wrong is the ideal environment for the makings of a psychopath.
