Alexander Graham Bell was a famous inventor that will be always remembered. Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in the 1800’s and gave the world an invention that would affect people forever. The reason why I picked him is because he invented something that I use every day. In this essay I will be talking about Alexander Graham Bell's life and how he invented the telephone, On March 3, 1847 Alexander was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He had two brothers and they both died from tuberculosis before either one had reached thirty years of age. Alexander was the middle child out of the three kids. The telephone was one of his popular inventions, but he also invented the photophone which transmits sound vibrations over beams of light. Alexander always seemed to have a mind on inventing things. He was also a young inventor. When he was 12 years old and working with a friend at a flour mill, he realized his job of dehusking the wheat was taking too long and was difficult. So he made a tool that would dehusk the wheat easier and faster. In his younger years, Bell moved with his family to Canada and then to the United States. Bell followed his father by working with sound and having an interest in helping and teaching the deaf. Alexander Graham Bell, with help from his father ,began teaching and experimenting in the Boston area using tools to help the deaf. One of Alexander’s deaf pupils was a girl named Mabel Hubbard. Mabel and Alexander became husband and wife. Bell was working on a machine that would create sound over electrical currents. In 1874, in his laboratory Bell tried many differents ways to get sound to travel over the electrical current, but it just didn’t work. Bell began to get frustrated and sought out advice from Joseph Henry, who was the Director for the Smithsonian, Henry, after listening to Bell explain his goal for the invention, encouraged Bell to keep trying and to make it happen, This excited Bell to keep trying and to get it
