Alexie Story I am told that I was born early by a couple weeks. I was extremely small and could not breathe on my own so I had to be put on a breathing machine and have all sorts of devices hooked up to me so that I could survive. After the first couple weeks, I was tested to see if all my mental activity was regular and it turns out I was doing great. At one point of the procedure I ended up wearing a helmet that had little needles in it or something of the sort to monitor my brain waves, apparently, I looked like I was one of those people who wear a cooking pot or tinfoil hat. I had to stay at the hospital for the first three days or more of my life in order to be monitored. After all of the tests went well I got to finally go home with my parents. As it turns out I had a speech impediment. My parents got me signed up for language and I soon became a motor mouth. I thankfully started to develop my vocabulary from an occasional “OOH OOH OOH” when I wanted something or was mad to an actual conversation. I quickly became a queerly imaginative thinker. For example, one time my babysitter came into the hallway and I said, “You can’t go around the corner because one of my dinosaurs is pooping!” She laughed and said, “Let’s go play a game a while we wait for him to be done.” So we played the big bad wolf game where we would take all the cooking pots and pans out of the cabinets and hide them and pretend they were a makeshift fort where the wolf could not get us. When we were done with that game we picked up my dinosaur and grabbed lunch then went to the natural history or kids museum of Chicago. Every time we went I would get a new dinosaur out of the molding machine. I would put in three quarters choose the dinosaur I wanted and watch the plastic be poured in and a new dinosaur would be
