Algebra 2 Module 3 DBA
Part 1 - Application
The width of a table is 2 feet less than the length. The area is 20 square feet. Find the dimensions. Show and explain all work using mathematical concepts in this module.

Part 2 - Find the error(s) and solve the problem correctly.
Solve by completing the square.
8x2-x-1=0

Answer:
8x2-x-1=0
8(8x2-x=1) Multiply both sides by 8 x2−8x=8 Simplify x 2−8x+16=8+16 Complete the Square
(x − 4)2=24 Simplify x − 4 = ± 24 x = 4 ± 24

Part 3 - Discussion Question - When the solutions are going to be complex, which methods can be used to solve quadratic equations? Explain your reasoning.
When the answers to a quadratic problem are complicated, the quadratic formula or completing the square can be used to solve it. This is because these approaches are designed to produce complicated solutions when the exponent is negative. The quadratic formula is a generic solution for any quadratic equation that provides the two solutions in terms of the problem's coefficients. Completing the square approach is another method for obtaining complex solutions. It is accomplished by adding and subtracting a square of half the coefficient of x from the equation, resulting in the standard form of the equation, from which the complex solution may be obtained. …show more content…

What new information have you learned from this module? What surprised you about what you learned? What knowledge from your past courses did you use in this module?
This module has taught me some new things. I've studied many ways to solve quadratic equations including factoring, completing the square, and utilizing the quadratic formula. One thing that surprised me was how complicated some of the quadratic problems were. I applied some information I've previously been taught which is Algebra. I used factoring and problem-solving learned in a previous math course. I also used graphing and the coordinate plane, which I had already learned as
