First Alice walker was an African-American woman who was born in February 9 , 1944 in Eatonton which is In Georgia . She was sharecroppers youngest daughter , she grew up from a poor family as her mother worked as a maid supporting rich families . She began her life and started as a social worker ,teacher and lecturer .When walker became 8 years she faced a serious injury as she was shot in the right eye , after she suffered in this injury she started to focus on writing . The story “everyday use” consists of our 3 main characters which are the mother , Maggie her youngest daughter , Dee her eldest daughter . We had two characters Maggie and Dee Maggie was jealous of Dee as her mother said before “Maggie will be nervous until her sister goes” which means that Maggie hates her sister little bit . Maggie was jealous of her sister because Dee is beautiful , not that black , smart , educated while Maggie wasn't smart and she had fire signs all over her body …show more content…

When Dee came she told her mother that she changed her name to (Wangero) and this is mislead in the family’s history , Then They sat to have dinner after they finished Dee asked for the quilts that her mom was given by her grandmother , her mother first didn't refuse but then she discovered that she promised Maggie that she’ll take them . Dee was nervous of this as her mother took from her the quilts and gave it to Dee as this happened Dee started to have an argument with her mother as Dee said before about her “have you ever seen a lame animal” which means that Maggie isn’t smart and can’t talk well or talk like a lame animal , also her mother refused to give them to her and she told even though if she won’t care . so all quotations are examples of figurative language
