The role of a nurse informaticist can be defined differently by each organization. However, the ANA aligns the Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice for Nursing Infomatics with the nursing process. There are sixteen standards for nursing infomatics that span from the assessment to the evaluation of implementation or interventions. The standards also address, ethics, evidence-based practice, quality care, and leadership (American Nurses Association, 2015). Nurses in my organization are trained on the use of the electronic health record (EHR) and are assessed for basic computer skill and knowledge. Annual competencies for technology use are required, and one a year we have a hands-on blitz where nurses and other clinical staff can be reeducated
