Which follows the story of Rashad and Quinn, two complete strangers connected through a horrible incident. Rashad stops by Jerry's convenience store to buy some chips until a lady trips over him when he tries to get his money out of his bag causing the chips to fall out of his hand. Rashad ends up getting accused of stealing by the cashier so a cop beats him to the ground sending Rashad to the hospital. All American Boys should continue to be included in the curriculum because it shows examples of sources of power. On Tuesday a couple of days after Rahshad was beaten and sent to the hospital. He was on the news because of police brutality so everyone knows what happened to him. Quinn gets to school to see neon blue letters spray painted on the sidewalk spelling “RASHAD IS ABSENT AGAIN TODAY” (165). Carlos, one of Rashad´s friends, was the one who spray painted the sidewalk, he was one of the first people to speak out which caused the community to come out and take sides: Rashad or The cop (Paul). This is a source of power for not only Quinn and Rashad but also for most of the community in supporting Rashad. All American boys should continue to be in the curriculum because it shows the student that any big or small action can become a source of power for everyone.
