Gerda Weissmann Klein, had to become the man of the house during the times of the holocuast considering the many family issues that had forced her to do so. As a young teenager, she and her Jewish family were forced into the life/ages of the holocuast. They suffered many challenges and had to many opportunities to deport from the country. The strong family choses to risk it and stay together while not knowing whats to come out of it. Gerda had to help her parents when both were fast asleep. She had to give medication to her own father because the mother had fainted. This explains how she had a job/role in the family which is typically sorted out by the father or the “ man of the house”. Going back to my previous point, Gerda was selling belongings of their house to people as if she had a job at the age of 15 which again explains to be why there is a shift in roles from the “man of the house”, being Arthur or Mr. Weissmann, to a 15 year old girl/daughter that is not expected to be assigned this roll in responsibility. Gerda Weissman had to also make a decision at the time of the incident. She had another option to curing her dad in the middle of his heart attack, being she couldve walked to the nearest Jewish Doctor about 20 minutes away.
