James Herriot is a Yorkshire veterinarian who recounts his memories of his elaborate career and these memories can be anything from ridiculous anecdotes to touching accounts with the local people and animals. Initially,Herriot joins a practice operated by a man named Dr. Siegfried Farnon and his brother Tristan. Discussing the difficulties of being a veterinarian, Herriot describes his experiences with freezing weather, stubborn clients, sleep deprivation, and lack of electricity.
