All Quiet on the Western Front, written by Erich Maria Remarque focuses on the first hand experiences of one man and dynamic character, Paul Baumer, and his fellow German comrades throughout the events of World War l. War always changes many, especially the patriotic and innocent young minds of those who believed fighting for their country was the most honorable action that could be taken. This is shown in All Quiet on the Western Front through the main character Paul Baumer who has been completely changed since after the day he enlisted.
