The movie is about the teenager named Archie Hamilton, he wanted to do something in his life. Archie thought to fight in the war would make differences, he didn’t know what the war would be like. Australia wasn’t even a big party in the war, they were just helping their alliance. When Archie went to war he saw men dying in a blink of an eye. When Archie was in the trenches he saw the generals makes pointless decisions. Just like All Quiet on the Western Front, the soldiers are dying which, is killing that generation’s population for some war. Archie could have become a famous runner and had a future, Paul also could have had a future because he really liked school and had a bright future. Instead, people advertised and make fighting in the war an honor. When they died in Gallipoli, a lot of the men left letters inside of the trenches walls to give to their love ones, these soldiers didn’t deserve to die. Back then only men could fight in the war so when the male population for that age group started to go down, there were many females who became widows and had no one to marry.
