Jack Nolan Mrs. Thompson ELA Period 3-4 2 February 2023 Title The short story, “All Summer in a Day”, written by Ray Bradbury is about a nine-year-old girl named Margot and other children living on the planet Venus. In this story, Venus experiences extreme rainfall and dreadful thunderstorms every day. If you live there, you only get to see the sun for one hour every seven years. Margot, on the other hand, moved to Venus five years ago from Earth so she remembers exactly what the sun looked like. The other kids tease her and call her an outcast since she is different from them. The author utilizes many literary techniques and devices to display the theme. He crafts his story creatively using figurative language, imagery, and dialogue. Although many themes can be derived from this story, one particular theme stands out, jealousy is destructive; it can make people selfish and hurt other people. Jealousy can lead to intense emotional experiences and can also result in physical harm.
