In September 2016, the first allegations came out against Larry Nassar, the national team osteopathic physician. It turned out that he had sexually harassed, assaulted and abused over 250 women. Most of them were gymnasts in Michigan State but some of them were Olympic athletes. He has received 3 lifelong sentences and he will never get out of prison. (Wikipedia, 2018). The gymnasts are blamed for all of this and this is not right. They were not of age, they were manipulated and brainwashed and most of all, they were hurt and will never recover from this. First of all, the victims were too young to realize what was happening to them. As gymnasts got shielded from the public so they could train for their dream, whether this meant getting into college or training for the Olympics. Training 30+ hours a week to accomplish their dreams made it evident that they had no knowledge about it and they were not educated on it properly. The treatments Nassar performed on the gymnasts were normal, according to him at least. He said he was healing them. At the gruelling training camps, Nassar was kind to them. He gave the gymnasts candy when the coaches were not looking. Comfort was not really given during the camps but he offered them a shoulder when they had a rough day. Moreover, he was allowed into their hotel room for the coaches said: “He’s a doctor, he will heal you”. In the meantime, he was only making everything even worse. The injuries did not heal the way they were supposed to, but the gymnasts were left in the dark. There was great fear to speak up because they did not know how. “Imagine feeling like you have no power and no voice. Well, you know what, Larry?
