His mother's name is Ann Iverson and his father's name is Allen Broughton (Biography.com Editors). Allens father abandon his mother when she was pregnant with Allen (Babb 9). Ann Iverson was only 15 when she gave birth to Allen. As Iverson was growing up many people saw his physical attributes and knew he was going to make the pros (5:32-8:51). Iverson had three siblings to look out for because they're mother was either always working or partying (Babb 15). They were so poor that sometimes the lights would go out and not come back on because they couldn't afford to pay their bills (Babb 20). Sometimes he would have to walk an hour to school because sometimes he couldn't find his mother to take him to school (20:11-21:34). Iversons neighborhood was so bad, that one summer eight of his friends were killed by gang shootings. Allen Iverson knew it was too risky to live there.
