A total of three million people around the world suffer from chronic migraines a year (“Migraine Statistics”). The pain that occurs from these headaches can be so severe that suffers are not able to enjoy their lives. An ad from Allergan, a pharmaceutical and research company, created the ad about chronic migraines. The ad was made to help people who suffer from severe headaches to seek treatment for it. The ad has a heading that says, “MAYBE TODAY, CHRONIC MIGRAINE WON’T STAND IN YOUR WAY.” Below the heading in the middle of the ad, a woman is lying on a red couch with her head away from the camera. In the background, snow covers the ground and pine trees. Also, her husband and two children are blurred out in the background. Then below the woman on the couch is a section of writing explaining what chronic migraines are, and how to find professionals that can help them. The advertisement shows that people who suffer from migraine headaches miss out on many events due to the severity of their pain. For starters, the whole heading is in all caps and the words chronic migraine are in dark red. Near the very bottom of the ad are three sentences that say, “AND YOU MAY ALSO BE LIVING WITH CHRONIC MIGRAINE.” These are also in all caps and highlighted in the deep red color. At the bottom some sentences follow the same pattern as mentioned previously. The dark red color used allows the words to stand out against the white background and using all caps also adds more attention to the ad.
