His life was brought with difficulties and adversity. The search for water, food, simply staying alive; every hour that passes a triumph of survival. There had to be a better way. When Davies' family were able to immigrate to Canada, they escaped Ghana. When he was only five years old, Davies and his family traveled across the Atlantic Ocean to settle in Edmonton. Davies' parents worked long hours to pay for food on the table. Even Alphonso was helping and raising his two younger siblings.Davies and his siblings started to attend Mother Theresa Catholic School, where his talent caught his first eye.”To be honest, I was just trying to play for fun to keep myself active and keep myself out of trouble” -Davies said. After being named an MLS All-Star and the Player of the Year with Vancouver Whitecaps FC in 2018, later then he finished out the season with Vancouver Whitecaps before officially signing a six-year contract with FC Bayern Munich of the Bundesliga in 2019. Davies’s debut in the Canadian Championship at age 16 made him the youngest player ever in the annual tournament. He obtained Canadian citizenship the week after. Just one year later, he became the tournament’s youngest goal scorer, scoring two goals and one assist in two matches. After playing for a while for “Bayern Munich,” Davies was named the Bundesliga Rookie of the year 2019-2020 season and became the first Canadian men’s international to play on a team that won Champions League against PSG. Despite being a soccer player, in March 2021, Alphonso Davies became the first footballer and the first appointed as a Global Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR. Alphonso said - “I am proud to join the UN Refugee Agency as a Goodwill Ambassador.
