Within every piece of literature, some portion always has a deeper meaning than it appears to have originally. George Orwell’s Animal Farm, contains many philosophical references, such as the altered Seventh Commandment “All animals are equal, but some animals are "more" equal than others”. This phrase is seemingly the most important of the novel as well as the presentation of the climax. Initially, in the novel, the Seven Commandments were written as a guide into Animalism and how every animal is equal. However, throughout the novel, all the commandments are slightly altered to elevate pigs into a higher social status while still claiming everyone is equal.
