Amanda Knox was once an average, college student from Seattle before studying abroad in Perugia, Italy. However, on November 2, 2007 her life changed forever. Knox reported that she returned to her house, which she shared with three other women, to find one of her roommates, twenty-year old Meredith Kercher, dead from exsanguination, or severe blood loss. Knox was immediately a suspect due to her odd behavior before finding Kercher’s body; finding the door to her home open along with a broken window in one of the bedrooms, blood drops on the floor in the bathroom, but still Amanda decided to shower. When Knox was taken in for questioning her odd behavior continued when she reportedly did cartwheels in the hallway of the police station. On the night of November 5th, Knox confessed to being present during Kercher’s murder, however, stated that she had not actually committed the murder and pointed the finger at her then boss, Patrick Lumumba (Lenth, 2013). When taken in for questioning Sollecito alibied Knox for the night before Kercher’s body was found but later changed his story, stating that he had not known Knox’s whereabouts between 9PM and 1AM of the same night. Knox and Sollecito’s altered their recollections of the night in question several times and but both stories varied greatly. Soon after Knox and Sollecito’s arrest, Guede’s bloody fingerprint was found at the scene of Kercher’s murder.
