Ambassador Scholarship Essay When googling the word leadership three definitions come up: the action of leading a group of people or organization, the state or position of being a leader, and the leaders of an organization or country. When looking at those three definitions, it does not even come close to what I see leadership as. Leadership is much more than being a leader of something. Leadership is creating an inspiring vision for the future, motivating and exciting people to join you in that vision, delivering that vision, working well with others, communicating well, and bringing together a group or groups of people to work on a common goal. To me, being in the Colorado Mesa Ambassador Program requires top-notch leadership skills and someone ready to take initiative, and I believe that I have the qualities and personality needed to be an ambassador. As a sophomore I received the HOBY leadership award and had the honor to participate in the leadership conference. The tour guides who led me on the tours to other schools were blunt and did not seem to be excited about what they were doing or what the college had to offer, until I toured Mesa. The Mesa student ambassadors that led my tour were noticeably different from the other schools’ tour guides, in more ways than one. At Mesa, the student ambassadors were truthful, fun, friendly and enthusiastic. This was part of the reason the school stood out to me and made me want to go to Mesa and become a part of the Ambassadors program. I have firsthand experience with how much Mesa ambassadors affect the outlook on the college. Knowing this, I would be able to help students considering Colorado Mesa University feel comfortable and have the opportunity to get future students excited about
